Thanks Rachel for the comment. It would be great to be able to get to the next NFPtweetup. I've got it in my diary and will put my name down.

One of the things I'm really interested in is pulling together knowledge that we have about giving in its broadest sense, i.e. giving time, skills, money, reputation, etc) across the voluntary sector. In particularly, it would be great to share learning and experience between those in fundraising and those in volunteer management. Going blog about this more soon : - )

Great post, Patrick - one of the most intelligent and well-informed on this subject I've read.

You touch on some points that I was keen to generate discussion around through my 'Future of Giving' panel at Media140 last week - although, I must admit, I don't think we managed to scratch the surface in the short time we had.

I think it's fair to say that there are few people in the sector that really understand the dynamics of and motivations for giving, who also have a strong grasp as to how the social web has changed our lives and created new possibilities, *and* can put the two together and properly explore how this impacts on the traditional charity business model, and add real insight to develop new models.

This is something the occupies my mind, and excites me, a great deal. It's great to find someone else on the same page!

We're going to be exploring fundraising and the social web in much more detail than ever before at the next NFPtweetup on 4 March. It would be great if you could come along - I'm sure you'd have a lot to add to the discussion.
